Wildlife Podcast Ponderings….

Zoom H2N Audio Recorder
The Zoom H2N — could this be the ideal device for recording an Ireland’s Wildlife podcast?

So… the arrival of the Zoom H2N audio recorder for review at IWHQ has rekindled a question I’ve been pondering since setting up Ireland’s Wildlife a few years back — should I include a weekly / monthly audio podcast in the mix of content?

I’m thinking something short… initially anyway. Would include a mix of things — outdoor recordings from the field, studio recordings (i.e. from the desk in my office), interviews with wildlife experts, gear reviews, commentary and opinion… that sort of thing.

What do you think? Would you be interested? Is there scope for an Irish wildlife podcast, something along the lines of the podcasts by BBC Wildlife Magazine and Talking Naturally in the UK?

I haven’t really had chance to play with it much but the Zoom H2N looks like a really great little recorder, and would be ideal for recording podcast material, as well as making wildlife recordings in the field.

Big thank you to Zoom’s Irish distributor, Walton’s for sending the unit in for review.

I’ll be posting a full review of the device soon, meanwhile here’s a really short snippet recorded at my desk this morning showing kind of recording you get from the Zoom H2N “out of the box”.

So, please do let me know in the comments if you think it’s a good idea and I’ll get the ball rolling. The more interest there is out there, the more likely it is that the project will get off the ground.
